Venom’s Co-Creator Todd McFarlane Redesigns His ‘Movie Look’ Live On Facebook! [VIDEO]

The new trailer of Venom has received mixed reactions from fans until now but seems like the character’s co-creator Todd McFarlane is extremely pleased with the audience reception.

McFarlane is really close to the character and has loved Tom Hardy’s adaptation of the character. McFarlane even took to Facebook Live to share a few changes he would’ve preferred to make to the Venom design in the film. He took a Venom face closeup screenshot from the trailer and commented on its design, saying that he really liked the way the team has given Venom massive shoulders, as he himself compares Venom’s size to a gorilla.

He also mentioned that there should’ve been more black in between the eyes and the overall shape of the eyes should’ve been a little more angular. He even made a few edits and made the shape look more like the comic version. He trimmed the size of the top teeth and increased the size of the back teeth. McFarlane also trimmed the bottom part of Venom’s smile to not show many teeth on the lower half and then removed all the edits to show the original image underneath.

These small edits do make a difference on the overall look of the character but he didn’t really bring in any major change as he liked Sony’s design. The film is speculated to be an R-rated film, something McFarlane wanted to see.

“The only thing that’s warming my heart – I mean Tom Hardy is obviously a good choice – the thing that’s warming my heart is they’re saying it’s going to be R. So now the question is (and I haven’t read the script), like what does that mean? Because again, we’ve seen a couple “R movies” right? I mean we’ve seen Logan and we’ve seen Deadpool… So it would be interesting to me to see what they do. I mean I know what I would do if they gave me that character; I would scare the sh*t out of people with it. I don’t know if they want to go that far with it, cause again, you can sell a lot of shirts and toys if you don’t completely scare people, so it will be interesting,” McFarlane said.

Venom will release on October 5, 2018.
