A recent report on Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox has stated how this deal has affected Fox’s upcoming movie releases. This comes via Wall Street Journal that also reveals a really interesting development to us: apparently a Family Guy film is in the works and the movie is going to be a mix of live-action and animation.
Reportedly the studio is joining hands with the Fox Television Studio for a Simpsons, Bob Burger’s and a Family Guy film, that will consist of both, animation and live action. Out of all these projects, Family Guy sounds the most intriguing. We can see something similar to what we saw in the Ted film series by Seth McFarlane (who is also the creator of Family guy).
This makes sense, given that Family Guy has already shown several scenes where the show crosses over with the real world. (Remember the epilogue from Not All Doges Go To Heaven, that featured late Adam West and Rob Lowe?)
It’s not very hard to imagine a way where the writers creative a way to another dimension, which just happens to be the same dimension that all of us exist in. The creators can use those scenarios to project the current socio-political status quo and how all of it relates to the absurd world of cartoons. We don’t know yet if we will get to see the traditional animation in the film or if it’s given a CGI makeover.
Family Guy has been around for 16 seasons and still counting and this might be the perfect time for Family Guy to make an onscreen debut. We all know that McFarlane is capable of blending animation with live action but for now, we just have to hope that this turns out true.
Family Guy season 17 airs on September 30 on Fox. Stay tuned with us for more updates on Family Guy, the film.
