  1. oh no! I’m sooo sorry to hear that Robyn. Time does have a way of whooshing by very quickly, but I”m confident you have several more handfuls of “good years” yet! Give your grandma a big hug from me xo

  2. It is sad, yet good if that is best for her. My dad, age 89 and his wife in her 80s too, just a couple weeks ago moved to Assisted Living too. And I will be 57 next birthday. It does make a person realize how God-awfully fast life goes. Thankfully we have a God who cares for us at all stages. Hope you are doing okay.

  3. I just spoke to my aunt — my only aunt — today. She is declining…. but if we’re really being honest, she is dying. We were talking, and I honestly felt as if the ghosts of who we both used to be were pressing in on me. I think she felt it — or something — too.

We were talking about when she and my uncle first moved into her current house and how her 2nd husband was just complaining today that the house isn’t “senior-friendly” — lots of stairs and maintenance. My aunt laughed and told me she was 40 when they moved into that house — too young to think about being seniors!. I couldn’t believe it was so long ago, but then I still remember it so clearly and in my mind she is so very young.

The march of time is incessant….. Sometimes that’s a comfort, and sometimes it’s not…

      1. Yes, it is often a blessing in advanced age, isn’t it?

And thank you for the Dalai Lama’s words. I am struggling with that concept of late and cannot be reminded too frequently. πŸ™‚

  4. On the bright side, I think Assisted Living has come a long long way in the past decade. It’s homier and friendlier than it used to be. My mom just had to do a stint in a nursing home, temporarily due to knee replacement surgery, but I was so impressed by the level of care and all the activities they had going on, includind a full service salon! It was almost like a vacation…

  5. Is that you as a baby?

I’ve lost all my grandparents 😦 But my Mum and Dad are doing well so far, although they’re starting to show some age. They both turn 60 this summer πŸ™‚

    1. Naw that babe is my daddy πŸ™‚ I knew both sets of grandparents and 2 great grandmas and 1 great grandpa. Just 2 grandmas left. I am a lucky girl πŸ™‚

Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck. -Dalai Lama
